1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. pure vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour (white, wheat or combination)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. uncooked oats (regular or quick)
1 c. chocolate chips
1 to 1 1/2 C anything on hand (butterscotch chips, M&Ms, dates, figs, raisins, nuts, etc.)

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheets (or use pan liners). Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and salt, mixing well. Stir in oats. Stir in other ingredients in small amounts until combined.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet, then remove to cool completely.

Very rich and yummy - these are NOT diet fare!
The base cookie is an old recipe that has been added to by everyone in my family over the years. Add any sweet thing you'd like - everything, that is, but the "kitchen sink."
