2 oz unsweetened chocolate
2 Tbsp butter
1 egg
½ c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
½ c milk

Hard Sauce:
½ cube butter
1 c powdered sugar
2 tsp milk
¼ tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt the chocolate with milk. Add 2 Tbsp butter over low heat. Cool. Beat 1 egg until foamy and ½ cup of sugar and beat until thick. Stir in cooled chocolate and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into chocolate mixture. Alternate milk and stir until blended. Pour into a buttered pan and cover tightly then steam 1½ hours until the center is firm. Steaming means placing the dish in a water bath as you cook it. Watch water level as you are cooking some will evaporate. Serve with the hard sauce. Melt butter until soft add powdered sugar gradually add milk and vanilla and beat until is is fluffy.

In the hard sauce portion of this recipe I could not read the handwriting regarding the milk. I believe it is 2 tsp, but until you make this, I do not know. The handwriting is hard to read.
