4 lbs. lean boneless spare ribs
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 to 1 chopped onion
Sauce:

1 cup catsup
1 clove garlic
1 can tomato paste (8 oz.)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup vinegar
2 T. prepared mustard

Brown meat. add onion, salt and water. Cover and simmer for about one hour. Mix sauce ingredients and add to meat mixture. Continue simmering for additional 1 1/2 hours until tender.

Sister Davis served this at a party welcoming the new bishopric when Dad replaced her husband Harold as Bishop in 1961. (They now serve together in the Idaho Falls temple presidency -- 2005-2008.) This has been a family favorite through all those years.
