2 Tbl vegetable oil
2 lbs beef stew cubes
2 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
2-3 Tbl pickling spice in cheesecloth
2 C beef broth
1/4 Cup sourcream
1 cup gingersnap crumbs (find in cookie aisle)

Directions:
Heat oil in large pot and brown the pieces of meat on all sides, remove the meat from the pan and pour out the fat. Return the pan to heat and pour in the wine. Bring to boil, scraping the bottom. Return meat to pan and add broth, vinegar, pickling spice, salt and pepper to taste. Bring just to a boil then cover and simmer 1.5 hours. Then stir in gingersnaps and simmer a few minutes until slightly thickened. If you want a richer sauce add sourcream, to add it first scoop out sauce, let cool, mix in sour cream and put back into pot.
