2 chopped green peppers
3 c. chopped celery
2 c. chopped onion
10 lbs ground beef

2 sm bottles ketchup
2 1/2 tsp salt
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c vinegar
2 Tbs dry mustard (or double for wet)
1/4 c Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Saute peppers, celery and onion to soften, then add the ground beef and cook until done. Drain off fat.

Mix the meet and the wet ingredients well.

Heat and serve.

Recipe doubles, even triples, well!!

For several years, Steve would gift his school staff with lunch on the first day back at school after winter break. Over break he would spend a day making about 2 roasters full of sloppy joes for them. This was a very popular "gift."
Eventually, he switched to Italian beef.
