2 lbs. lean beef in 1½" pieces
⅓ C Flour
2 t salt
½ t pepper
⅓ C Vegetable Oil
¼ C Bacon diced
1 Onion chopped
1 C Fresh mushrooms sliced
2 carrots chopped
1 Clove minced garlic
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
2 C water
1 C Burgundy Wine
1 Bay Leaf
1 t Thyme
1 can white onions - optional

Directions:
Directions:
Coat beef with mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Brown meat in oil in a large skillet. pour off fat. Transfer meat to large casserole dish. Add bacon to skillet and brown lightly, add chopped onion, carrots, garlic and mushrooms and cook about five minutes. Add onion mixture to meat along with tomato paste, water, wine, bay leaf & Thyme. Bake at 350º
for 2 or more hours, until meat is tender. Serve over rice or noodles.
