Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour (More for hands and board)
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp orange zest (1 orange)
1/2 cup butter frozen
1/2 half & half
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 heaping cup fresh or frozen cranberries
coarse sugar
Optional: Orange glaze
1 cup confectioners sugar
2-3 tbsp fresh orange juice

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt together in large bowl. Add orange zest. Grate the frozen butter using box grater. Add it to the flour mixture and combine with pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture comes together in pea-sized crumbs. Whisk 1/2 cup half and half, egg, and vanilla together in small bowl. Drizzle over flour mixture, add the cranberries and mix together, work into a dough as best you can. If too sticky add some flour, if too dry add some half and half. Put dough on pan with parchment paper. Flatten into circle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 8 pieces and pull them back to leave a 1 to 2 inch space between the pieces. Add coarse sugar to tops. Place scones in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Heat oven to 400º Bake for 17 to 22 minutes. Rotate the pan in oven after 10 minutes. Lay foil on top if they are getting too brown.
If using glaze: Let scones cool a few minutes and then whisk confectioners sugar and orange juice and drizzle over scones.
