3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. unsalted butter
3 c. sugar
6 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream
grated zest of 2 lemons

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter, eggs, milk and sour cream should be at room temp. Sift together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder in a separate bowl and set aside. Cream together butter and sugar about 3 minutes until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and zest of lemons. On low speed of mixer add flour alternating with sour cream and ending with 1 cup of flour. Mix well, scraping sides of bowl with rubber spatula. Pour cake into well greased and floured tube pan or bunt cake pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 min. Remove cake from pan when done and cool on cake rack.
 

Lemon Syrup

1 c. fresh lemon juice
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
zest of 1 lemon

Combine ingredients in sauce pan and bring to boil over high heat. Let cook until it reduces to 1/2 cup (about 15 min.). Allow to cool and drizzle syrup over the top of cooked cake. Allow to cool completely before serving.
