2 gallons Cut cucumbers (3)
1 gallon Boiling water (1 ½)
2 cups Salt (3)


Let the above stand for 1 week. Stir once a day with a wooden spoon.

8th day – Pour off brine and cover with boiling water.
9th day – Same add 1 tbls (1 12/) of Alum
10th day – drain cover with boiling water
11th day – drain and add 3 pints vinegar (4 ½ pints plus 1/3 cup)
6 cups sugar ( 9 cups 1/3 cup)
3 tbls pickling spice in bag (4 ½)

Reheat syrup for 4 days adding 1 cup sugar each day (1 ½ cups plus 3 teasp)
Sterilize jars and can on the 14th day.

Another favorite of my parents. Made every year in a big crock.

These pickles were my Dad's favorite. Time consuming to make but well worth the effort.
