1/4 C milk
1/4 C oil
1/4 C unsweetened applesauce
2 large eggs, divided
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 C flour
3/4 C plus 2 Tbs. sugar, divided
1/2 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 C semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 C chopped walnuts
4 oz cream cheese

Pre heat oven to 350º. Grease an 8 inch square baking pan. Set aside. Combine the mil, oil, applesauce, 1 egg, and vanilla, mix well. In another bowl combine the flour, 3/4 C sugar, cocoa, and baking powder, mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips and the nuts. Add the milk mixture. Reserve 1 C of the batter. Pour remaining batter into greased pan.
In a small bowl combine the cream cheese, remaining egg, and remaining sugar. Stir until smooth. Pour filling over the batter in pan.
Drop reserved batter by Tbs. over the filling. With a small knife draw through the batter to marble.
Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut and serve.
