32 Light candy caramels
5 Tbs light cream or evaporated milk

Melt caramels in cream. Cool slightly
1 cup flour
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 6 oz chocolate chips
1/2 cup pecans chopped


Directions:
Directions:
Combine the first 6 ingredients. and press half of this crumb mixture into the bottom of an 11x7 inch pan. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.
Spread caramel mixture carefully on top.
Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or til golden brown.
Chill 1 to 2 hours then cut into bars.

I first was given this recipe from Della Friedly. It is very good and a camping and Christmas favorite. I have been making this for about 30 years.
