Ingredients:
4 sticks butter (1 lb), well softened
4 C powdered sugar
4 C flour
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Combine in order....butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and flour. Chill thoroughly, at least overnight. Use only small amounts of dough at a time. Leave remaining dough in freezer. Keeping hands and board well floured, roll out dough very thin. Cut into desired shapes. Sprinkle with colored sugar, jimmies or cinnamon/sugar. Bake in a 375º preheated oven on uncreased cookie sheets 6 to 8 minutes or until edges just begin to turn golden.

You can make your own sugar sprinkles by mixing sugar and food coloring in a ziplock. Place sugar into a bowl and leave out overnight so that the sugar granulates again. You can make a large variety of colors and shades and the color doesn't fade when you bake.
