3 T. cornstarch
2 T. sugar
2 tsp. grated orange peel
1 pound can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 pound 4 oz. can drained apple slices
2 9" pie crusts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 425. Mix cornstarch, sugar, orange zest and cranberry sauce in saucepan. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Add apples and set aside to cool slightly.

Line pie plate with bottom crust. Pour in cranberry mixture and dot with butter. Cover with top crust...seal edges and flute. Make slits in top crust for steam to escape. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown. (Covering edges with aluminum foil will help prevent too much browning.)

Plain canned apples aren't easy to find. Dried apples work fine if covered with boiling water and soaked till soft. (Pour off water.) Even better if available are dried apples with cinnamon sugar...these I soak and pour off water but leave out sugar in the recipe as the apples are very sweet.

The combination of flavors of cranberries, orange, and apples is delicious...has become my favorite fruit pie.
