1 Tbsp salad oil
4 Tbsp vinegar
1 tsp fine sugar
salt and pepper to taste

"Wash and scrape celery, put in icecold water until dinner time; then cut into inch lengths, adding above seasoning. Stir well together with fork and serve in salad bowls."
