1 pint corn syrup
1 pint molasses
1/2 lb shortening
2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 lb brown sugar (2 cups)
10 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Warm the corn syrup, molasses, lemon juice and shortening.
Add remaining ingredients in order given.
Roll into little marble size balls. Test tray to make sure they hold their round shape.
Add flour if needed.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes on greased cookie sheet.

There was a second recipe that included 1/4 lb citron (cut fine) and 1/4 lb of almonds.
That recipe had 1 lemon rind and juice instead of the 2 tsp lemon juice.
