1 c. butter, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. currants

Directions:
Directions:
Combine butter, sugars, egg and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Combine flour and baking soda. Stir into butter mixture; mix well. Stir in currants. Shape into a 12-inch roll. Cover and chill until firm. Slice into 1/4-inch slices and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Yield: 4 dozen.
