Ingredients:  
3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
1 1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp milk
2 eggs
salt
jam/jelly

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine shortening and sugar.
Add vanilla, eggs and milk.
Mix in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
Roll on floured surface and cut into circles and rings to make cookies.
Lay circles on baking sheet.
Place small amount of jam/jelly in center.
Top with ring and gently press outer edges to seal.
Bake until they begin to become golden.
