2 1/2 c flour
2 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 c shortening
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 c buttermilk
2 well beaten eggs
Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, brown sugar, salt and shortening. reserve 1/2 cup for topping, to the remainder add: baking powder and soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the buttermilk and eggs. Mix well. Pour into 2 waxed paper lined 8" pans; sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Chopped nut meats and cinnamon may be sprinkled over crumbs. Bake at 375 for 25 -30 minutes.
