1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts
Jelly
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla.
Blend flour and salt. Mix into shortening mixture.
Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Roll into 1” balls
Beat egg whites slightly with fork
Dip balls into egg white then roll into nuts.
Place thumbprint in center and fill with jelly.
