1 cup butter or oleo
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
3 eggs
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 cup chopped raisins
1/2 cup black walnuts (chopped)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Measure and mix flour, salt, baking soda and spices, add to first mixture. Then stir in raisins and nuts. Form into two logs 1 1/2 or 2 inches in diameter. Place on bread board and refrigerate overnight (or dough may be mixed and frozen for several weeks before baking if desired.) Slice and sprinkle with sugar and bake in 350º oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
