2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
4 cups flour
2 eggs
3 tbsp. orange juice
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream tartar
1 tbsp. hot water
candy orange slices

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening until fluffy, add brown sugar a little at a time, add eggs and beat well. Then add orange juice and candy orange slices which has been cut up in small pieces. Mix well, add water then add flour which has been sifted with the baking soda and cream of tartar. You may use nuts on top of cookies if you wish. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet and bake at 375º for 10 to 12 minutes. These are really good.
