2 cups all purpose or whole wheat flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk
Margarine or butter, melted for tops

Directions:
Heat oven to 450 degrees. (High altitude - 3500 - 6500 feet - heat oven to 475 degrees)

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.

Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball. (Too much milk makes dough sticky, not enough makes biscuits dry)

Turn dough onto ungreased cookie sheet. Pat dough into 6-inch square with floured hand. Cut into 2-inch squares, cutting completely through dough.

Brush with margarine or butter, melted.

Bake until golden brown. 15 - 20 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet; cool 5 min. Gently pull biscuits apart.
