6 egg yolks
1/2 cup cold water
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp lemon extract
1-1/2 cups sifted cake flour
1/4 tsp salt
6 egg whites
3/4 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks till thick and lemon-colored. Add water and beat until very thick.
Gradually beat in sugar, then extracts. Sift flour and salt 3 times, fold into egg
yolk mixture a little at a time. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until they form moist glossy peaks. Fold into first mixture, turning bowl gradually.
Line cookie sheet with 1" sides with wax paper. Pour cake mixture in and bake
at 350º for 20 minutes or until golden and done. Turn upside down on lightly floured
large paper bag opened up flat on table and pull wax paper off cake at once. When
cool, cut cake into squares about 2".

Frosting
1/4 lb. butter
1/4 lb. oleo
1 tsp vanilla
Enough powdered sugar to be thick enough to spread, about 1/2-3/4 box
Frost each square and roll in ground walnuts (about 1 lb.) or tinted coconut. Store
in covered tin. Stays nice for about 4 or 5 days.
