1¾ cup sliced strawberries
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
½ tsp. vanilla or almond
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. butter
1 more cup of sliced strawberries

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan using medium heat. stir together the strawberries, sugar, and water until the sugar is dissolved. Heat to boiling, stirring often. Reduce heat and add flavoring. In a cup, combine the cornstarch and 2 tbsp. water. Mix well and add to the boiling mixture. Stir over low heat until mixture thickens. (about 3 - 4 minutes). Remove from heat and add butter. Stir and serve.
Refrigerate topping. It also freezes well.

This topping can be used for angel food cake with whipped cream, cheesecake. ice cream, shortcake, ice cream, or pancakes. Your choices are many!
