Crumb Topping:
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons flour

Cake:
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoons baking soda
¼ salt
1 egg
⅓ cup buttermilk (or sour milk)
⅓ cup melted butter at room temperature
½ teaspoon vanilla
1¼ cups fresh or frozen raspberries

Cake:
In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a second bowl beat together milk, egg, butter, and vanilla.
Pour liquid into the dry ingredients and mix gently. Spread batter in an 8- inch square pan.
Sprinkle the raspberries over top.
Blend the crumb mixture together and sprinkle it over the berries.
Bake at 375º F for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve at room temperature.
