1 cup sifted flour
2 Tbsp water
1/2 cup butter or oleo
Blend flour and butter, and sprinkle with water. Mix with a fork. Round into a ball. Divide in half. Flour hands well and form dough into 12x3 inch strips on unbaked cookie sheet.
Topping
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
3 eggs
1 Tbsp almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Bring water and butter to rolling boil, add almond extract. Lower heat and stir in flour quickly. Stir until it leaves the sides of the pan and remove from heat. Add 1 egg at a time, beat until smooth spread one half of this mixture evenly over each piece of pastry on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until topping is crisp and nicely browned. Turn off oven, pull out rack. Let it cool slowly to prevent its falling. Frost with confectioners sugar icing. Sprinkle with slivered almonds.
