Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Butter, for greasing
1 loaf crusty sourdough or French bread
8 eggs
2 c. milk
½ c. heavy cream
½ c. sugar
½ c. brown sugar
2 Tbs. vanilla extract

Topping:
½ c. flour
½ c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
Nutmeg, optional
1 stick cold butter, cut into pieces

*Powdered sugar, warm syrup, butter & blueberries for serving

Directions:
Directions:
Grease baking pan with butter. Tear the bread into chunks and evenly distribute in pan. Wish together eggs, milk, cream, sugars and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread. Cover pan tightly and store in the fridge until ready to cook (overnight is best but you can bake it right away).
For the topping, mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg (optional) in a bowl. Add the butter and mix using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles fine pebbles. Store in a plastic bag in the fridge.
When ready to bake, sprinkle casserole with topping and bake @ 350º for 45 minutes for a softer, bread pudding texture or for 1 hour + for a firmer, crisper texture.
Serve with a dusting of powder sugar, butter, warm syrup and blueberries.

This recipe is my Christmas morning lifesaver! I love that I can make it the day before and then quickly put in the oven just as the kids are waking up, ready to take in the magic of Christmas!
