2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbs. hot water
½ cup shortening
½ cup sugar
½ cup molasses
1 egg
6 tbs. cold water
raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Blend flour, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Dissolve baking soda in hot water; set aside. Beat shortening, sugar, molasses, and egg until light and fluffy. Next beat in flour alternately with cold water; then stir in soda mixture. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls at least 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets; place 4 or 5 raisins on top of each cookie. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until done.
