¾ c shortening or butter (softened)
1 c sugar
¼ c molasses
1 egg
2 t baking soda
2 c flour
½ t cloves
½ t ginger
1 t cinnamon
½ t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in a saucepan then add sugar, molasses, egg (beat well).
Mix baking soda, flour, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt, add to first mixture, chill.
Roll into 1 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar, and bake at 375º for 8 - 9 min.

I always double recipe. If cookies turn out flat add more flour.
