6 cans of chicken broth
6 cans of beef broth
3 cups of onions sliced thin
1/2 cup cooking sherry
1/2 stick of butter unsalted

empty cans in pot bring to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer

in iron skillet sauté onions in butter til caramelized
add sherry and simmer a little

empty skillet into pot and simmer for about an hour

add salt and pepper to taste
