3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
½ cup orange juice
¼ cup light corn syrup
1 tsp. lemon extract
2 cups whole red/green candied cherries (or maraschino cherries)
1½ cups diced mixed candied fruits
1 cup light raisins
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
bag of chopped giant gum drops (not spiced; optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Soak dried fruit, cherries, raisins and gum drops in rum overnight. Grease loaf pans or ring mould. Stir together flour and baking powder. In a large bowl beat butter/margarine for 30 seconds then add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating 1 minute after each. Combine orange juice, lemon extract and corn syrup in small bowl. Add dry ingredients and orange juice mixture alternately to beaten mixture. Add dried fruit and rum mixture. Bake at 300º F. for 50 - 60 minutes.
