Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups cornmeal
1 cup white flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda
Pinch of salt
2 eggs
a little molasses (1/4 cup)
2 cups sour milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the eggs, molasses, sour milk, and butter. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the cornmeal mixture and fold together until there are no dry spots (the batter will still be lumpy). Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

Bake until the top is golden brown and tester inserted into the middle of the corn bread comes out clean, about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The actual recipe is from Grandpa Julian's Aunt Mary Vogt - they were a big family. There were no directions with it. So I've added some from a similar recipe. I would make half of the recipe and bake it in a 8x8 or 9x9 greased baking dish.
