10 medium cucumbers
8 cups sugar
2 tsp. mixed pickling spice in a bag
5 tsp. salt
4 cups vinegar

Directions:
Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water. Allow to stand until morning. Drain. Repeat for next three mornings. The fifth day, drain and slice into ½" pieces. Combine sugar, spice, salt and vinegar. Bring to a boiling point and pour over cucumbers. Let stand for 2 days. On the third day bring syrup to a boiling point. Seal in hot sterilized jars.
