5 cups vinegar
13 cups water
1 cup sugar
¾ - 1 cup pickling salt
small cucumbers
fresh dill heads
alum
garlic (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Clean and sterilize jars. Bring above ingredients to a hard boil while stirring and let boil for 5 minutes. Clean small cucumbers and pierce with a fork. In each quart jar, place 1 - 2 cloves garlic (optional) and 2 heads of dill. Add cucumbers to jars as tight as you can make them up to the neck. Add ¼ tsp. alum on top. Pour boiling brine to within ½" of top of jar. Seal tightly. Let stand til you hear the jars pop and/or the flat lid has a concave shape.
