Directions:
Starter: In a glass measuring cup, add ¼ cup water. Heat the water in the microwave to 110º. Add the yeast. Allow the yeast to dissolve. This takes about 10 minutes. With a plastic spoon, stir the yeast until it dissolves. Set the measuring cup aside. In a large non-metal bowl, combine sugar and flour with a non-wire whisk. Slowly add the milk and the dissolved yeast. Stir the mixture until it is combined. Place ¾ cup of the starter in each of the plastic bags. (The excess will go into the bag you're keeping.) Give the other 3 bags to friends along with these directions (you'll follow the day to day instructions too before you can start using the batter for bread). Day 1 do nothing, just place the bag on the counter. Days 2, 3, 4 and 5 - Squeeze the bag several times. Day 6 - Add 1 cup of four, 1 c. of sugar and 1 c. of milk and squeeze the bag several times. Days 7, 8, and 9 - Squeeze the bag several times. Day 10 In a large metallic bowl, combine the batter with 1 c. milk, 1 c. four, and 1 c. sugar. Mix with a wooden or plastic spoon. Pour 1 c. starter into gallon size Ziploc© bags (1 cup each). Give three away to friends and keep one for yourself. To the remaining batter in the bowl add the ingredients for Amish Cinnamon Bread
