1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 square of semi-sweet chocolate, melted OR 1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
nuts, optional

Topping
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Sift dry ingredients and mix with milk, butter, vanilla, chocolate and nuts if desired. Pour into a greased 9x9 baking dish and cover with topping ingredients of blended sugars and cocoa. Pour boiling water over all and bake about 40 minutes.

Good served with ice cream. It is like a Devil's Food cake on top with pudding on the bottom.

For a 9x13 pan this recipe can be doubled. This is one of Uncle Bill's favorites. It is a must have every year on his birthday since we have been married.
