1/2 c butter
2 sugar
3 eggs
3 c flour
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. allspice
1/3 c cocoa powder
1/2 c buttermilk
1/3 c coffee
2 c strawberry jam



Frosting:
1/2 c butter
2 1/3 c sugar
4 eggs
1 c milk
1 1/2 c seedless raisins
1 1/2 c flaked coconut
2 c pecans, chopped
2 c candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients, add alternately with milk and coffee. Stir in jam. Pour into 3 greased 8" pans. Bake at 325º for 25 minutes. Cool. Frosting: cream butter and sugar, add eggs, beat well. Add milk and cook in double boiler until thick, stir constantly. Add raisins, coconut, pecans, cherries. Cook a few minutes longer. Let frosting cool and ice cake layers and sides.
