Susy: Aunt Rita's recipe, found in my mom's wooden file, did not include many directions. She may have just combined everything and placed it in the ice cream machine for churning, but I did find some instructions online, for a similar recipe:

In a small pot, simmer milk, cream, half-and-half and sugar, until sugar completely dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. In a separate bowl, whisk yolks. Whisking constantly, slowly whisk about a third of the hot cream into the yolks, then whisk the yolk mixture back into the pot with the cream. Add vanilla and lemon extract; blend. Return pot to medium low heat and gently cook until mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon. Cook mixture to room temperature then chill 4 hours or overnight. Churn in an ice cream machine according to manufacturer's instructions. Serve directly from the machine for soft serve, or store in freezer.
