2/3 c. shortening
2- 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 can (lb) pumpkin
2/3 c. water
3 -1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
2/3 c. nuts
2/3 c. raisins or dates

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, add eggs, pumpkin and water. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices and add to the pumpkin mixture.Stir in nuts, raisins. Pour into 2 quart loaf pans. Bake at 350º for an hour or until done.

As I was writing this recipe down I found a note on the back that grandma had left for grandpa." Jack,the bathroom door is locked". I thought that was so precious.
