1 lb. sheet French bread, sliced 1 ½ inches thick
8 eggs
1 cup sugar (divided)
3 ½ cups milk
1 tbs vanilla
6 granny smith apples, sliced thin
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tbs nutmeg
2 tbs butter (chilled)

Directions:
Directions:
Slice bread and arrange in a greased 9 X 13 inch pan (place tightly). Beat eggs, ½ cup sugar, milk and vanilla. Pour ½ mixture over bread. Arrange apples over mix and pour remaining egg mixture over apples. Combine remaining sugar and spices, sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter. Cover and chill 2 hours or overnight.

Bake 350 degrees one hour or until no longer jiggles when shaken. Let stand 15 minutes prior to cutting. Plate and dust lightly with powdered sugar if desired. Can serve with warmed syrup.
