1 cup butter, soft
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 cup sour cream
3 cups flour
¼ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp vanilla
powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

In a large bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and blend in the sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in the sour cream.

In a separate bowl, sift the flour, measure and sift again with the baking powder. Add the flour in 4 parts to the first mixture, blending well each time. Add vanilla.

Pour the batter into a well-buttered 10 inch tube pan.

Bake for 1 hour, or until it tests done when you insert a wooden toothpick.

When the cake is done, remove from the oven and let stand 5 minutes. Invert onto a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely, then wrap tightly in plastic wrap and leave for about 24 hours at room temperature before serving.

Before serving, sprinkle the top lightly with sifted powdered sugar. Slice into wedges and serve.

Personal Notes:
Ideal cake to bring to a picnic. Travels well. Make it a day ahead; sit at room temperature, well wrapped, before slicing and serving. Nice with fresh fruit alongside. Not too sweet.
