3½ cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder (yes, I really mean a whole Tbsp!)
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
2 Tbsp vanilla (yes, I really mean two whole tablespoons!)
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup fruit such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries or peach pieces. Fruit should be frozen to hold its shape better and so it will not get runny when cooked.

Preheat oven to 375º.

Mix dry ingredients and cut in cold butter with a fork or your fingers until mixture is in pea sized pieces. Make a center well and add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix until a crumbly mass forms. Let stand for 3-5 minutes in the refrigerator. Add the frozen fruit to the mixture. Press together biscuit sized pieces and place on a cookie sheet that has layer of parchment paper on it. Bake for 15 minutes.
