1 gallon milk
12 eggs
3 cups sugar
3 T. cornstarch
3 T. vanilla (may be reduced if you prefer other flavoring)

Directions:
Heat milk in large pot until scalded. Mix cornstarch and sugar; add slowly to hot milk, stirring constantly. Beat eggs and add about ½ cup hot mixture to them, stirring all the while. Then add all the egg mixture in a VERY SLOW, SMALL stream to the hot milk and stir.
Cook slowly about 30 minutes until mixture adheres well to a wooden spoon. Set into pans of cold water to cool quicker. Add vanilla and refrigerate, sealing well.
*Remember to always STIR during entire process. Recipe may be halved successfully -- simply reduce cooking time accordingly.
