2 Pkg. Dry Yeast
¼ Cup Warm Water
2 Cups Buttermilk
5 Cups Flour
⅓ Cups Sugar
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
1 Cup Shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Combine yeast and warm water. Let stand 5 minutes until bubbly. Add buttermilk to yeast and set aside. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles meal. Add buttermilk mixture, mixing with a fork till dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out on floured surface. Knead lightly 3 times. Roll dough to ½ inch thick. Cut with 2 ¾ inch biscuit cutter and place on lightly greased sheet. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 450º for 10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen. Can be frozen. To freeze, bake for 5 minutes, cool, wrap in foil, freeze. Thaw and bake at 450º for 7 minutes.
