1/4 cup egg whites
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
4 Tbsp. gelatin (any flavor)
1/4 cup water

Directions:
Combine ingredients. In a double boiler, cook until thick, beating constantly. After cake is frosted, coconut or nuts may be sprinkled over the top. This recipe was often used by my mother, Irma Heflin Ullum.
