1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup uncooked (quick) oatmeal
1/2 cup butter (or margarine)
1 1/2 cups flour (unsalted)
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, beaten

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and butter; set aside until butter is melted. Sift flour, soda, cinnamon and salt; add to oat mixture, mixing well. Add sugar, then eggs, mixing thoroughly. Bake in greased 13x9x2 inch pan in preheated 350º oven for about 20 minutes.

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
4 Tbsp. milk
6 Tbsp. butter
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup coconut

Directions:

Combine sugar, milk and butter. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Blend in nuts and coconut. Spread on cake and place under broiler just long enough to brown slightly.
