2 (9 inch) pie crusts
1 lb. box brown sugar
1 cube (1/2 cup) butter

Meringue

Directions:
Combine and heat in heavy pan brown sugar and butter for 12 to 20 minutes at a slow boil. Cook until browned (caramelized). Add ice cold milk. Stir together. (May curdle but won't affect pie.)

Dissolve cornstarch in 1/3 cup milk. Add this to beaten egg yolks. Add a small amount of hot liquid to egg yolk mixture; then pour egg mix into hot liquid. Continue to cook until thickened. (May require a bit more cornstarch.) Add vanilla.

Pour into hot precooked crust and top with meringue, made with reserved egg whites.

This is requested by the grandchildren at all family dinners.
