4 Idaho potatoes
2 big onions
1-2 eggs
matzah meal
salt
olive oil
dash of garlic powder

1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Put onions and potatoes in a food processor with the metal blade and process till smooth and no lumps.
3. Pour in to a bowl and add the eggs, salt and garlic powder and mix well
4. Heat enough oil in a fry pan to cover the bottom and about 1/4 inch up the sides of the frying pan
5. Carefully pour in the potato mixture and fry on a medium flame till the bottom gets a little brown
6. Put the pan, uncovered in the oven and bake until the potatonick is nicely brown on top
7, Serve warm

I do not really know the difference between a potatonik and a potato kugel. Grandpa says a nik is flatter and crispier. This is best the day made and before it is reheated.
