1/2 recipe chilled butter dough

1. If necessary, let butterdough stand at room temperature 15-20 minutes to soften. On floured surface roll out dough into a 14X8" rectangle

2. Cut dough into 2 14X4" strips. Cut each of these strips crosswise into 1/2" strips making 56 4X1/2" strips. (For a larger cookie, roll dough into 12X9" size. Cut dough into 9X6" strips then crosswise into 1/2" strips making 36 6X1/2" strips)

3. Generously sprinkle a piece of waxed paper with some sugar. Shape strips into figure 8's. Place several at a time on sugar leaving space between each figure 8. Sprinkle generously with more sugar. Roll with rolling pin til they are 3" long 1/16 thick. (larger cookie to 4 1/2 ")

4. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 1" apart. Bake 350 16-18 minutes. Remove to wire racks.
