3/4 cup milk scalded
1/4 cup sugar or 3 tbsp. honey
3 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp salt
1 cake yeast or 1 package dry yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
1 egg, slightly beaten
3 1/2 cup sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Pour scalded milk over sugar, shortening and salt in a mixing bowl: cool to lukewarm.
Soften yeast in lukewarm water; add egg and mix well.
Add to milk mixture,
Sift flour once and measure; add about half to the milk mixture and mix thoroughly.
Add remaining flour and mix well.
Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm place for about an hour.
Punch down.
Grease dough slightly, cover with slightly dampened towel and wax paper,
tie securely and store in refrigerator or cold place until needed.

About 2-1/2 hours before baking, take the amount of dough needed from the refrigerator, shape as desired.
Grease slightly with melted butter.
Let rise until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.

Bake in hot oven.
Instead of placing the dough in the refrigerator, it can be worked down shaped onto aluminum baking pans, cover and place in freezer until ready to use. Take out about 2 hours before baking and let rise in warm place.

Will keep several weeks when frozen.

Time: 20 minutes
Temperature: 425º
